International Leadership Program—Guatemala City, Guatemala
March 8, 2018
On the weekend of March 2-5 the administration of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, along with Leon and Reba Walker, traveled to Guatemala City to conduct our first international leadership conference. This is the beginning of a new international leadership development program that will eventually extend to all regions of the world. Latin America is our largest international work and, therefore, a good place for us to begin. The weekend consisted of a special Sabbath service and two days of seminars on the development of leadership in the Church. The seminars will be followed up with quarterly classes for all participants that will be webcast live from the studio here at the office. Join COGWA President Jim Franks as he reviews the program and the weekend’s activities in Guatemala.

The Opportunity to Attend Foundation Institute
March 1, 2018
Doug Horchak, operation manager for Ministerial Services, begins this edition of In Accord by commenting on the recent death of longtime elder Don Thomas and giving an update on Festival registration for 2018. Mr. Horchak also contrasts the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he let slip by 45 years ago (the opportunity to go on the Temple Mount dig) with the chance many young adults (and others) have to attend and be taught at Foundation Institute today.

Especially to the Household of Faith
February 22, 2018
The apostle Paul told the brethren of Galatia that, as we are able, we should seek to do good to all people, but “especially to those who are of the household of faith.” In ancient Israel and in the early Church, God’s people understood that there was a need to provide for those who could not adequately provide for themselves. Some of those needs are now provided by governmental and charitable programs, but where those resources are not enough, the Church can offer additional help. Join us for this week’s edition of In Accord to learn about the programs the Church provides and what each of us can do to “do good” to those in need in “the household of faith.”

Barbados Celebrates 50th Anniversary
February 15, 2018
On this week’s In Accord please join COGWA President Jim Franks for the 50th anniversary of the Church of God congregation in Barbados. It was on Feb. 3, 1968, that Herbert Armstrong started the first congregation of the Worldwide Church of God on the island of Barbados with 111 in attendance. The congregation grew to over 400 in the 1980s. Today there are 87 members in the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, and 17 of this group were in attendance at the first service in 1968. On Saturday night after the Sabbath, there was a formal dinner, entertainment and the presentation of certificates to the 17 members who were part of the original congregation 50 years ago.
